This joyous print is characteristic of Chila's eclectic style, combining iconographies largely shaped by their relationship to the British Empire, Bollywood movies, punk, comic books, pop culture and Hindu Mythology. These pieces are a playful exploration of symbolism, and bring into dialogue the ongoing need to challenge colonial legacy in Britain and uneven power dynamics prevalent in our societies. Chila's belief is that there are no rules when it comes to printmaking. Each piece is unique, and you’ll see bindis, fake gems and found objects incorporated into some of the works.
